Bye Bye USA

The America I learned about in school and grew up admiring and eventually serving in the United States Army is being destroyed and I can't understand why those with political, judicial and/or military authority are just standing by and letting it happen.

There's absolutely no doubt we have an unhinged, egomaniacal crazy person leading the country. What's worse, he's got dozens of ignorant, spineless, greedy minions who are willing to do his bidding without question or hesitation. Every word that comes out of this fool's mouth is a lie. He's so full of himself, he's created this alternate reality. It's bad enough to listen to him spew this bullshit on a daily basis, but it's unfathomable to me how anyone in their right mind would support this craziness. People are selling their country down the river just to be part of the crazy circus in power right now.

I get it; our electoral system is antiquated and broken. The fact that we re-elected a convicted felon who already showed his true colors in his previous stint as president is all the evidence you need that something is broken and not working according to plan. And I understand that majority of the people who voted for this fool were pretty much clueless. This is what happens when you put political parties above people. It's not a big shock. But I am shocked that there are no truly brave and noble patriots (and I'm using 'patriot' here in the truest sense of the word) in the higher echelons of our government who want to put a stop to this madness. By now I would've imagined that a group of sane people would've come together and put plans in place to forcibly remove this dangerous, deranged menace along with all his ass-kissing cronies. Yeah, I realize what I'm saying here. But it's obvious the traditional methods of getting things hashed out in government aren't going to work here. This fool doesn't play by rules; he makes up his own as he goes along. He and his gang are spinning an alternate reality and talking and doing some really crazy shit! People's lives are being destroyed! The CIA took out President Kennedy for much more dubious reasons. 

I guess the only conclusion I can draw is that money and power are the end-all, be-all in our country these days. To hell with integrity, honor, liberty, justice, equality, and democracy. Who needs all that if you've got loads of money and power?!

In the grand scheme of things, 250 years isn't a bad run for a democracy. It was pretty sweet while it lasted. What comes next is anyone's guess. Is it possible to undo all this malfeasance and get back to ideals this country was founded upon? Yeah, I guess it's possible. But it ain't gonna be an easy ride getting back there. Buckle up.

If you thought that Joe Biden winning the election was somehow going to make everything OK -or at least better- after four years of Trump, I admire your optimism. And although I hate to be a wet blanket or Debbie Downer, I'd like to call your attention to the fact that we still have the same exact two-party chokehold strangling this nation. How about now? Now can we have justice?

 I sat in awe as I watched Cassidy Hutchinson testify before the January 6th Committee yesterday and paint a vividly clear picture of what was going on in Trump World before, during, and after January 6, 2021. Ms. Hutchinson was the proverbial fly on the wall throughout this entire saga and provided first-hand accounts of what was said and what was done -or rather not done- during this tragic day in America's history. She was physically there when all of it unfolded. I can't imagine the soul-searching it must have taken for her to finally come to terms with the fact that she was playing for the wrong team and then  courageously decide to share the truth so the entire country could understand how dangerously close our democracy came to collapsing. Here we go again. Have we learned nothing?

Back at the end of January, if you would've tried to tell me that I'd be sitting at my desk at work with a mask on and surrounded by hastily constructed foam board barriers to sequester me from my coworkers, I probably would have given you a skeptical look and thought you were blowing things a bit out of proportion. As far as I can recall, January was the first time I heard or read about a worrisome Novel Coronavirus that was starting to reak havoc in China and that had many infectious disease experts in this country sounding the alarm. At first, I thought the same thing as I imagine a lot of people thought: sounds like just another variety of the seasonal flu; not even as deadly it seems. I didn't really understand the aspect of there being no cure or no vaccine and that us humans had zero built up resistance against this new strain.
